Gloucestershire-based lifting hydraulic equipment manufacturer Majorlift recently purchased an Oil 140 3MP Oil Line swarf and coolant vacuum from Kerstar to help keep its CNC machines clean.
Majorlift manufactures lifting equipment including jacking beams, pit jacks and transmission jacks widely used in the automotive, aerospace and defence, rail and many other industries. High-volume production meant it needed an effective way of keeping its machine tools clean. An email announcing the arrival of the Oil Line range - a brand-new addition to the Kerstar industrial vacuums portfolio - caught the attention of Maintenance Engineer, Billy Taylor, who takes up the story:
“Our machines are used a lot, so maintenance and keeping the machines clean is very important to us. We’ve used a couple of other vacuums throughout my time at Majorlift and they were ok, but as soon as I saw the advert I contacted Filtermist and they sent a swarf vacuum for us to test. Throughout the testing period we knew that was what we wanted, so it was then an easy process of paying for it and keeping it!”
The Oil 140 3MP, which benefits from three 230v bypass motors, enables users to collect solids and liquids at the same time. A stainless-steel swarf collection basket makes sure none of the swarf gets into the oil or coolant, meaning the liquids can be re-used if required, helping reduce coolant replacement costs.
“We’re very happy with the service from Filtermist. It makes everyone’s life easier, and it makes my life easier. Just going through one person to get the same job done instead of going through multiple people which I’ve had before."
"It makes everything much more efficient.”
Majorlift also uses Filtermist centrifugal oil mist filters on many of its machines, along with a Dustcheck wet collector connected to one of its deburring tables, helping protect operators from airborne mist, dust and fume particles.
