What is ATEX and the importance of being compliant

Atex FireATEX compliance plays a crucial role in protecting workers that work in environments where explosive atmospheres may be present. It reduces the risk of accidents, safeguarding both people and property. On top of this, adhering to ATEX regulations is often a legal obligation, helping organisations to stay compliant and avoid potential fines and liabilities. You can find more information on our dedicated ATEX webpage.

ATEX is a regulatory directive that is recognised globally as a standard for equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The ATEX directive provides a framework for ensuring the safety of equipment, protective systems, and components that are used in environments where there is a risk of explosion due to the presence of flammable gases, vapours, mists, or combustible dust.

Kerstar manufactures a range of ATEX approved vacuum cleaners for use in atmospheres that are potentially explosive. The unique features across all of the compressed air products are fully conductive accessory kits, and stainless steel canisters mounted on a stainless steel caddy fitted with conductive braked castors and wheels. The KEVA electric range of Type H vacuum cleaners has been purposely designed, built, tested and approved as suitable to pick up potentially explosive and conductive dust and debris in a Dust Zone 22. Kerstar's range also includes KEVA Premiums which offer reverse pulsation, alternating filter cleaning. The air powered KAV range is suitable for picking up hazardous dust and debris in Gas Zones 1 and 2 & Dust Zones 21 and 22 and is available for wet and dry applications. Finally, Kerstar also offers a Continuous Duty vacuum range consisting of the DGF and the ESS vacuums which can be used for long periods of time, even 24/7 if necessary.
